break out...of the snow globe

holy swatch watches!

Christmas is coming so fast!  I think I'm just about done with all the christmas socks and other accessories...but, then again...who knows....tomorrow is another day and sometimes I get inspiration in strange places.

I have so many guilty pleasures with music...especially of the brit brilliance of the 80's...and one such is Swing out Sister... I know...but....when Break Out comes on....it's just...like...shiny, bright, and happy...and sometimes finding happy can be as simple as a song that reminds you that what you do, every day, is a choice....and deciding to be happy, although hard at times, is really...what needs to be brought to the table....bringing happy.....happy....it's what's for dinner...and I'm serving it up.... that's right...I said it.

Happy isn't what you need to get....or buy...or even get from another person....you don't need to live in a different city...or drink more water.... :)

your freaking happy is inside you....radiating like a glowing ball...self sustainable....and when you find it...you glow.

maybe I need to break out of this snow globe....

When explanations make no sense, when every answer's wrong....
you're fighting with less confidence,
All expectations gone...
the time has come to make or break....break out...
when situations never change, tomorrow, looks unsure...
don't leave...your destiny to chance...what are you waiting for?
the time.....has come to make or break....break out.... (Swing out Sister)

today....a day to radiate...and inspire...to glow...

"I have always known that at last I would take this road, but yesterday I did not know that it would be today."  (Japanese Haiku)

which reminds me....I need to work on lighting the path up for myself...and others...which is my purpose...just gotta find a way out of this snow globe first...

peace and love....and finding and following your path, the one you were meant to follow.

love and war....and peace.

as I plan my next attack...on the canvas....I've been thinking about some Sun Tzu quotes.....

love and war....so many metaphors...and, in antiquities....there can be found...goddesses that were goddesses of both love and war, for example....Inanna.

it makes sense....the passionate...fire-y...and feisty goddess....at the ready to kick ass for the cause....equally as fire-y about love.

and as I share my latest plan....I also share my favorite Sun Tzu quotes....to celebrate belief in oneself....to celebrate love...and the sophistication and intelligence needed to prevent war...

this may seem like an odd post...since, I'm usually all about love....but there is also a time to be a warrior....sometimes....one may need to fight....whether it is a problem, an enemy....real or imagined...love sometimes brings us to war, sometimes we have to fight against, what might be holding us back....or that which might say that something is impossible...that which tells us our dreams are too big.

"know yourself and you will win all battles..."  Sun Tzu

"Be extremely subtle even to the point of formlessness. Be extremely mysterious even to the point of soundlessness.  Thereby you can be the director of the opponent's fate."  Sun Tzu

"Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak."  - Sun Tzu

"Supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." -Sun Tzu

"In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity."  - Sun Tzu

and.....

"Hey, Cameron, you realize if we played by the rules right now, we'd be in gym?"  Ferris Bueller....

(so profound, I will conclude with that)

peace....and love....and conquering without fighting...knowing yourself and

fighting for your dreams...however big...now, let's go kick some ass...

seventh wave...

in a set of waves....because typically waves travel in travel sets, the seventh wave ends up being the biggest...

and in a sense, just....wiping the floor with the other waves....Surfers like to wait for that big, strong seventh wave...(of course, in nature, it isn't as predictable as that).

and, also...since everything can lead back to Sting, in a type of 6 degrees of Sting... :)

Sting says, Love is the Seventh Wave.  :)  I hope Sting comes here and sees this. :)  maybe if I hashtag Sting...you know... #sting, #seventhwave, #gordon :)  he may end up here, some late night, when he's just googling his name.  :)  (hey, Sting)

there is a deeper world than this, that you don't understand....

there is a deeper world than this....tugging at your hand....

so...ignore all those little waves.....and wait for the big one that sweeps you away....out to the middle of the ocean....where the possibilities are endless.....and love is all around....and other people are excited to grab that wave too....

but it takes getting out there...way out there....away from shore...away from what is comfortable...and then....grab that wave....because you will know no other exhilaration quite like it.

Mele Kalikimaka is....Merry Christmas in Hawaiian.....

And I'm feeling all, islandy....and seventh wavey.....

there is a deeper wave than this...nothing will withstand.  :)  Love is the seventh wave.

peace...and love...and riding that seventh wave.

It's Just Winter...

taking a brief break from elf-ish fun

.....I have been tossing this around for awhile...and now is the time it comes out...because Winter Solstice is coming soon, right before Christmas and....it is the time we can say hello to the waking sun...and have hope that winter is ending.

so, there is a great creator spirit called, Glooscap, among First Nations and Native American people of the eastern coast...Canada and U.S.

and a legend that tells of how he battled the giant Winter...in some tales, he goes to meet Winter because a great frost covered his land, preventing corn from growing...and his people were starving.  Glooscap sits with Winter in a wigwam and Winter tells Glooscap of old days when the giant ruled the land and everything was cold and still.

Glooscap fell asleep for six months, but woke, because the charm would not hold him still....he was too powerful.

Glooscap's trusted friend, the Loon, told him of lands to the South that were always warm...and there lived the all-powerful Summer....who could easily defeat Winter and Glooscap decided to set out and find her....to bring her back and help him kick Winter in the nuggets.

lovely Summer... no doubt could kick Winter's ass any day.  :)   Summer was a beautiful woman...with flowing hair....who breathed life back into the land and tossed Winter out....but she made a deal with Winter....every year he could come back for a few months, but only for a few months.....at which time, she evicted him.  :)

and so, is the legend....of how Glooscap, the great creator spirit....found Summer...and told Winter to take a hike.

the end...

peace and love...and Summer...may you feel the glow of the sun all winter long warming your soul through the darkest of days.

in defiance of the winds that blow....

I have a whole lot of Christmas cheer....but I know this time of the year can be hard for people.....the winter can seem endless...cold and lonely... here is me....wishing everyone a warm end of the year....peace on earth...and good will to all.

today's sketch and watercolor, as I listen to Christmas, by Blues Traveler....lend out a hand and extra love to those who are having a hard time, who need extra kindling on their fire in their hearts....help to make them blaze like they should.

Comes the time for Christmas
and I really have to ask...

if this is feeling merry, How much longer must it last?

I wish a one horse open sleigh
would come and carry me away
but i've been waiting here all day
And one just hasn't come my way...

Now excuse me if I'm not being reverent
But I was hoping for a miracle to hold me...wash me....save me from my righteous doubt
as I watch helpless
and everybody sings
if it's chanukah or kwanza,
solstice, harvest or december twenty-fifth....

Peace on earth to everyone and abundance to everyone you're with....

Comes the time for Christmas, and as you raise your yuletide flask,
There's like this feeling that you carry as if from every Christmas past...

It's as if each year it grows, it's like you feel it in your toes...
And on and on your carol goes...

Harvesting love among your woes,
I want to buy into the benevolent
And I was hoping for a miracle to hold me, wash, me, make me know what it's about...
as the longing in me makes me want to sing...
Noel or Navidad, season celebration or just the end of the year,
Christmas can mean anything and I mean to keep it's hope forever near.....

As if a cold and frozen soul is warm to love, by loves own hand, So goes the prayer if for a day peace on earth....and good will to man.

....in defiance of the winds that blow.... (Blues Traveler).

peace....love....and giving and sharing your fire and keeping winter warmer.

audentes fortuna juvat....

Fortune favors the brave....

and....

opportunities multiply as they are seized.... Sun Tzu

this post is gonna be uplifting....it just is.   so sit back and be lifted....up.

if you are thinking about doing something positive, making a positive change in your life....do it...

fortune favors the brave...

back in the day...the origin of this phrase came from the belief that the Goddess of Luck, Fortuna will help out those who take risks.

so....get on it.

I am partly writing this for my own kick in the junk.

I want to start contacting some galleries....and I am just about to make that leap...and what happens if I don't do anything?

nothing.....zero.....zip...nada....do nothing and nothing changes.

I was looking around at how to make art prints and I found this....which is totally inspiring to me.

(found at wetcanvas.com)

"Be fruitful and multiply! No stronger words can be spoken of a lonely work of original art hanging isolated on the wall of a single residence, hidden from society, being enjoyed only by the limited few that happen to wander past it.  After you plunge a small part of your soul into a visual creation, it seems sinful to prevent it from wandering across the globe with an agenda to enlighten others about your creative contribution.  Prints can accomplish this for you.  An original drawing is like a large oak tree planted firmly in the ground, and prints are like seeds from that tree, floating in the wind, traveling to distant places, looking for a new place to take root."

The same can be said about going out and making something happen- anything....

spreading love and happiness, like casting seeds into the air and seeing what happens, where they will fall...

The more you do something to change what you want to change....make more opportunities....the more something will change for you.  When you change your thoughts, you change your actions...you change how you perceive the world around you....and start opening up all kinds of opportunities for yourself.

Start that wheel turning and who knows what could happen?   the possibilities...although scary....are way too exciting....so be fearless.....be fearlessness.....

you kick ass....so go out and kick ass...and help others kick their own asses so they can go out and kick ass and....so on...and so on...

peace...and love....and Fortuna....and kicking A.....create the opportunities you want...

I want candy....

Canes.....

Interestingly...the song, I want Candy, by Bow Wow Wow (there is an original version, but...of course, I prefer Bow Wow Wow's) -
Isn't about candy at all.... well...I guess more like eye candy....

she's talking

about a dude...You know....

Candy on the beach, there's nothing better,But I like Candy when it's wrapped in a sweater....

and also...that other 80's song....Turning Japanese....isn't about turning Japanese....at all.  well, not really....and that Cyndi Lauper song, She-Bop...that's not about....ummmm, bopping? anyway...and while I'm at it, what the hell does Duran Duran know about the Rio Grande?

but anyway....back to candy canes....

last year...

I totally missed the boat on buying candy canes....and when I came to....I looked around and couldn't find any- well except for some crazy ass organic ones that were $$$$ that nobody was buying....yeah....big disappointment for kids especially....so this year I bought.....an obscene amount.  Honey crisp Apple ones, Cherry ones, Peppermint ones, Peach ones....oh, yeah.....

candy canes.

Sometimes,  I want candy...like candy canes....yum.

I like this shoulder...I dunno...I just kind of like...the angle and the watercolor marks on it....

Peace and love....and candy canes...because 'tis the season, to love and appreciate those around you....so go....brighten someone's day.    :)
