I don't even know where to begin. there's something very awesome about George Michael's Freedom! 90
so many awesome things....in fact.
you know, first of all...the title....you know...to differentiate between this Freedom and the Wham!'s freedom...so, well....you also know that it is from 1990....not a bad year.
ok, so I'll get right to it. I'm a linguist. I'm fascinated with language and communication and mostly.... I am fascinated with the musicality of language...that is but one thing that really interests me...but there are things about language that totally blow me away....
when you stumble on something that light's up your brain...something that you NOTICE....which is the whole point of contrast....is to NOTICE....
you notice something.... you really notice the contrast between that thing and the lack of that thing...
sometimes it isn't completely a "this" vs. "that"....but a "this" vs. "the absence of this"
and try to understand the purpose.....of the contrast.
and the purpose that you think you are discovering isn't even the purpose of the thing at all....beautiful surprises in research.
anyway, as I have not yet touched on what I'm even talking about...I guess I should. no doubt this topic will be explored by me.
here's the thing....it's about communication without words.
when you look up 'communication without words' -you discover topics on Google, such as- non-verbal communication,
you know...like- gestures with hands, and facial expressions...all these things are paralinguistic...outside of the speech signal.
(just now as I type, a thought forms....research possibilities and the whole 9)
but this isn't what I'm talking about...
what I mean is.....communication with the absence of a speech signal....absence of even paralinguistic input....absent from hand gestures....facial expressions....
what does that mean?
exactly.
the name of whatever I'm talking about...I'm still trying to discover what it is I'm actually talking about...
however...it doesn't mean, it doesn't exist....
this beautiful presence of communication without active, audibly measurable signals... which is just that....
a measurable signal that isn't currently being measured....exists.....and completely overrides the necessity for all other signals...such as tone, voice, lexicon, syntax, non-verbal paralinguistic signals...and all of it.
this kind of communication...
once you have had this....with another brain....when two brains communicate in a way that seems like they are connected directly....
something magical happens.
communication happens.....clear channel happens. A clear channel with whole knowledge of the message intended. true understanding.
and is it magical? or is it the way things should be more like.... which totally brings me to another point..
another blog perhaps....and that is about listening.
peace...and love....and language.....and deeper understandings.....
