hora sexta....

in Spanish....siesta derived from the Latin, hora sexta or the "sixth hour"....  :)

naps...I'm a huge fan...in total support of naps and letting your brain download all that crap it gets loaded with in the first half of the day...I love naps.

I started taking some pictures while my little guy was sleeping, napping...feeling the sun pouring in through the blinds....warm and listening to the snoozy breaths of a child in slumber.

painting this as a small watercolor,

to you know...just start...starting small, building...a whisper to a scream.

taking it to my larger watercolor paper....the new stuff I'm using...

just feeling out the sketch...making corrections....adjustments....whatnot...

and starting...to paint...and clearly...there are some issues...but I hope to work them in....and make them, ummm...non-issues.  My elementary art teacher Mrs. Harmer always taught me there are no mistakes... :)  pretty much turn lemons into lemonade kind of thing... :) which formed the basis of my philosophy on my art making...from first grade on...boom.  established....work magic from the challenges...(i won't say mistakes...because there are none).

and continuing to work...noticing all the lemons I've got....to make lemonade with.  :) it's all good...

this painting reminds me of...basking in the sun...in a hot room...maybe in Greece...as the breeze whispers through the room....as I sleep...enjoying la hora sexta.

and all stripe-y, like a zebra...

peace...love...and siestas....taking a moment to refresh...refocus...recharge....and damn...I'm thirsty for some lemonade.  :)
