I mentioned in the previous post...my feelings of this "early bird gets the worm" type of saying...
first of all....I am NOT a morning person...as I've mentioned...and believe me...I've gotten plenty of worms...as a matter of fact....I'm a night owl, who has also had my share of swooping down and scooping up some tubby early birds (stuffed with their damn early worms) and enjoying those sweet nuggets. :)
and... the worm
so tasty....and this one slept in....so he's kinda groggy....
(I saw this guy the other day...and I saved his life)
so, here's the deal...
there's plenty of research that says being a night owl is better than being an early bird.. :) I'm not gonna provide the research here....i'm sure everyone can google it :)
and there are lots of artists, musicians, literary greats who are all night owls...so, hey....
I'd rather sleep in...roll out of bed...and grab a worm...than get up early...to grab the same worm...I mean....do early worms taste better? I doubt it....really....I see no point....
:)
bottom line... :) enjoy life...there are plenty of opportunities that are perfect for you after a good sleep...maybe even a nap....hit the snooze sometimes and rest up....eat chowder in your bathrobe for breakfast....and relax...soak it all in...
I'm sure there are lots of worms for everyone...no need to tell kids they have to push and shove and get there first to get the first damn worm they see...sometimes the first worm...frankly...sucks ass...and kids can exercise some patience.
maybe when you sleep in...and show up later....you have to work harder and develop better character...and maybe you are more selective about the worm you want, when you aren't hell bent on getting the first one (rather than showing up super early and get handed worms to you)
:) ok...I know...I am hitting this point hard... :) it's just fun....smile. life doesn't have to be so serious.
....and it's my blog.
night owls....bravo. keep up the good work.
Here is a watercolor of a fellow artist's owl. Michael Salmon (his blog is HERE.) just look at that stare....powerful. :) owls rule. :) so quiet....so...swift...
so, here's to peace...and love...and celebrating the early birds.... and the night owls....we can all get some worms, when we decide to get there, and some of us are waiting for something bigger than a worm.
I agree with all you say here, but the bitch is that all those clichés about old people getting up at the crack of dawn and going to bed at the crack of evening (I never heard crack of evening, but why not?) are really true.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but I just can't sleep past about 4:30. Hell, this morning I came downstairs at 1:30! So obviously by 8:30 I'm ready to get in bed and read until I fall asleep with the book on my chest.
Except tonight, even though I got up at 1:30 I won't go to bed until about 11 or later. We're going to hear Yo-Yo Ma in concert!
But I have come to love those early mornings. My freshly ground, French roast, that first smoke of the day while reading the NY Times. It's great!
As you said, though, "we can all get some worms." Good post.
ha, thanks Martin..ya, I have had to wake up earlier now that school started and I have to race around...I'm still a night owl at heart though.... :) plenty of worms. :)
Deleteand enjoy that concert Martin! :) ouch...4:30...i don't even know what that looks like. :)
