when I was...maybe around 19...and still living at home...I got some tempera paint...well, tempera powder....which I mixed with water...and then slathered it all over my walls of my room....I wanted four walls of seascape...and clouds...
and then I moved out...
and I left my room like that. :)
a joy for my mom....
until she wanted to paint over it. ugh. seriously....can you imagine? you can't just paint over that stuff...it bleeds and mixes with whatever is put on top....it was probably a big blue hot mess of....seascape.....
I'm not exactly sure how she managed to clean it up...probably cursing me...every. single. second.
I've had a few paint...um.......mishaps....or rather...paint casualties....I'm not really a careful painter...I'm not into prep....or taping...or hmmmm....newspaper underneath...or any sort of protective- preventative...nothin....I know...that is completely endearing...and lovely....
it's just....the impulse of grabbing brushes and paint kind of- sometimes I just kinda need to grab the brushes and paint...and....well, it's a buzz kill for me to stop and put all the effort into properly preparing my art area.....that's why painting outside is ideal for me....
anyway....
I like to be able to paint on different surfaces....providing art on every day things...
we have this....very well used....sticker stuck on....paint...marker....mess of a table....that I decided to do some sharpie art on....
I did not pre-draw this with something I could erase.... I just went for it with sharpie...and sharpie....well- is not very forgiving...but sometimes you have to show that kind of
determination and commitment...second guessing and doubting can take a hike...
it's liberating....really.
this is the table....a safari...through Africa...with sharpies.
I started with the elephant....
and then there was the Zebra...with my daughter's art....
and then the giraffe....
and the last was...the lion.
and the table....
in progress.....when it was in progress...
and so....there it is...
peace and love...and sharpies....
