Pottery

I feel a very balanced, co-creator relationship with watercolors- it is me...the paper, the paint, the brush..and we are all kinda working together  :)   happily.  peacefully....

and then there's pottery.....

I took a pottery class in Arizona at a community college.  I was so excited...I always wanted to sit down at a potter's wheel and make magic...

The instructor was this awesome Japanese potter dude- who was amazing...had amazing stuff...and was just... well....he had a good working relationship with clay.

I felt like it was a constant battle between good and evil...  too much water...too little water....wheel too fast....too slow....f*ck.

and when it was all over....the best part about it was....

the glazing...   :)

here are some of my projects...

The first thing we had to learn...before the wheel, was how to hand build using coils....we had to build a perfect cylinder and a perfect sphere...

My cylinder turned into this vase...

and for my sphere....this very HEAVY fish teapot that....well....the pour is embarrassing...but here it is.

It is a damn shame that I can't find my ORCA teapot....a damn shame.  If I find it...I will update this blog.

Moving on to the wheel....

My bowls look good from above...it is the funky side view... all my bowls are very funky.

Funky side view:

This cup...  at least I have this cup.

There must be a metaphor for life here...somewhere.

:)
